| Chinese Brush Painting 821.11 Art 1.4 CEU $195 Estimated additional costs for siplpies is $50-$60 In China, a flower is never merely a flower; nor a landscape merely a place. The land and everything on it has its own romantic stories, legends, spirituality and symbolism. In this course students will explore the spontaneous style of Chinese Brush Painting through hands-on step-by-step instruction under the expert guidance of acclaimed artist Dr. Ning Yeh. The course follows the Hsieh-I, or Depicting Idea, style developed by the traditional painters of the 11th century and specifically focuses on the Po-mo, or Throw Ink, method: "In order for a painting to show the vitality of nature, it must be executed in a lively way; hence the movement of the brush is completed in a simple, dynamic, and powerful manner, seeming as if the artist is throwing color and ink on the rice paper." –Ning Yeh Topics include detailed instructions on appropriate use of rice paper, brushes, colors and ink. For beginning to advanced students. Enrollment Limited. How do I register for classes? For a catalog and quick registration, please visit the UCLA extension services online at uclaextension.org Further questions should be directed to the Registration and General Information number listed above. | ||
